European cloud contract rates in 2026: the premium quietly widened

YunoJuno's 2026 contractor rates report opened with a line worth reading twice: AI, cloud and product skills continue to command premium rates. Not "held up". Not "stabilised". Continued to widen. That matches what we're seeing across European desks.
The rate stack today
IT Jobs Watch puts the UK Cloud Consultant median at £460/day in the six months to June 2026 — up modestly year-on-year. Central London Kubernetes Engineers median £625/day on the same dataset. Those are median numbers; the premium band above them is where 2026's story lives.
What's actually moving
Senior Cloud Architects with genuine AWS or Azure production depth are landing €900–1,160/day across DACH and the Benelux (AddanEx, cross-checked to Honeypot.io 2026). Platform Engineers with Kubernetes plus IaC plus observability land €780–1,020/day. AI-adjacent cloud specialists — the people who can size, cost and ship a GPU workload — sit €100–200/day above pure-cloud peers.
Where the discount is
Generalist DevOps without a platform-engineering story. "Cloud engineer" job titles with three-year gaps on any one hyperscaler. Remote-only positioning against the CEE pool. All three now trade at a visible discount to hybrid-city, deep-stack contractors — and that gap is widening quarter on quarter.
The buyer read
If your architecture is genuinely AWS-first or Azure-first, hire on demonstrated depth in that one stack rather than a spread of shallow certifications. In 2026 the market pays for depth. It stops paying for breadth around the mid-band.
